We take for granted these days of having air-conditioned homes and cars, but did you know that Plain Dealing, Louisiana recorded the state's hottest temperature ever, 114 degrees, on August 10, 1936.

Obe and Orene Hamiter were not the first Hamiters in Plain Dealing Louisiana but they were the beginning of our branch of Hamiters and the reason most of us grew up together and were pretty close while growing up. We are a large family that has grown apart but if we try we can find that closeness we once took for granted and now no longer cherish.
